DEG is used in the production of polyester resins, plasticizers, as well as structural blocks of some organic syntheses such as morphine and 1 and 4 dioxane.
Other major applications of DEG are used as solvents for some substances such as nitrocellulose’s, resins, dyes, oils and other organic compounds. It dilutes tobacco, cork, printing ink.
There are other uses of DEG include lubricants, cooking fuels, wallpaper strips and brake fluid. It is also used in personal care products such as skin creams and lotions, deodorants. Ethylene glycol antifreeze also contains a low percentage of diethylene glycol.
