Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) also known as marine fuel is a fraction obtained from petroleum distillation and used as ships fuel. The specifications of VLSFO that shall be produced in Red Sea Co. Project shall follow the latest global cap of sulphur content in marine fuels announced by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). These new regulations, known as IMO 2020, mandates a maximum sulphur content of 0.5% in marine fuels globally. The driver of this change is the need to reduce the air pollution created in the shipping industry by reducing the Sulphur content of the fuels that ships use.
